Everything you need to write about Blankie — the free, open-source ambient sound mixer for iPhone, iPad, Mac, and CarPlay.
One-liner
Blankie is a free, open-source ambient sound mixer for iPhone, iPad, Mac, and CarPlay — no ads, no subscriptions, no accounts, and it works fully offline.
Short description
Blankie helps people focus, relax, and sleep by mixing high-quality ambient sounds — rain, waves, fireplaces, coffee shops, and more — into custom soundscapes. Listeners can import their own audio, which Blankie loudness-matches automatically, set a sleep timer with animated lock-screen artwork, and take their mixes on the road with CarPlay. Inspired by Blanket for Linux and built natively for Apple platforms by independent developer Cody Bromley, Blankie is MIT-licensed, localized in 12 languages, fully accessible with VoiceOver, and free forever — supported only by optional donations.

Cody Bromley is an independent developer who built Blankie as a love letter to Blanket for Linux — and to the idea that calm shouldn't have a paywall. He develops Blankie in the open with community contributors and translators around the world. He's happy to talk about indie development, open source on the App Store, audio engineering, or why the app is free forever.
