Blankie is translated by volunteers. If you'd like to help translate Blankie into your language, please check the contribution guidelines .
Getting Started with Translation
- Download the English template to use as your starting point
- Translate the strings by editing the the JSON or CSV file (keep the original keys and structure)
- Submit your translations either:
- Through a GitHub issue using the Translation contribution template
- Or by emailing them to i18n@blankie.rest
Understanding the Status
We track translation progress in two categories:
- Finalized: Translations that are ready for use
- In Review: Translations that need validation
Status labels are based on the combined progress:
- Complete: 90%+ strings finalized
- Well Translated/Nearly Complete: 70%+ finalized or 90%+ combined progress
- In Progress: 50%+ combined progress
- Getting Started/All Needs Review: Some strings translated or in review
- Not Started: No translation work yet
Needs Review
Strings marked as "needs review" are translations that may need attention, such as strings that:
- Were automatically translated and need human verification
- May not match the context correctly
- Need updates after the source string changed
Working with Translations
On a language page, you can download translations as CSV files to work on them in spreadsheet software. After making changes, you can contribute by submitting a GitHub issue with your translation file. If you're comfortable using XCode, you can also fork the repository, import changes from a CSV or JSON file using our import script, then test locally and create a pull request with your changes.
